J. L. Hudson's Pretzel & Popcorn tins

"If it says J.L. Hudson's....somebody somewhere is collecting it."
So said the sage this weekend....in just a random conversation that I happened upon....which in turn spurred this latest blog entry.
The 1st (The Hudson's Pretzel tin) tin I happened across a couple of years back at a nearby yearly flea market/rummage sale. A couple of bucks for a Hudson's 5lb tin? You bet your sweet bippy I was buying!

Still had/has the original label....missing the nutritional value chart....so my guess would be the late 1970's to the very early 1980's.....little to no rust, a few dings and dents, and a couple of scratches....much like the rest of us.
The 2nd tin...
Found at a local estate sale...in a back room. The place had been picked over & under...yet somehow this treasure had been missed. Great shape....little to no rust, a couple of scratches & dents....A "grate" find.
Still has its small Hudson's sales tag....almost faded beyond recognition...just enough to the trained eye. I have seen the same tin downtown at an antique store in Detroit's Eastern Market.....$30+ for a tin that's rusted beyond reason and looks like its been dragged down a dirt road...no thanks. Got this one for a measly buck....right place right time. I chalk it up to clean living! HA!

The Bertels Can Co. of Wilkes-Barre Pa is still in business,,,,and has been since 1922. Just 2 more artifacts for the collection.....TO THE VAULT
